Crossing the National Borders - Working Possibilities in Europe

A two year long project is organized and coordinated by Srednja šola za farmacijo, kozmetiko in zdravstvo (SŠFKZ - Secondary School for Pharmacy, Cosmetics and Health Care) from Ljubljana, Slovenija in the partnership with Srednja zdravstvena šola Ljubljana (SZŠ - Secondary School of Nursing Ljubljana). Project includes seven educational institutions with five study programs (beauty therapist, pharmaceutical technician, dental technician, technician of laboratory biomedicine and practical nurse) in five European states (Slovenia, Finland, Latvia, Spain and Denmark). Participants in the project are: a) students of regular education in the secondary vocational schools, b) students of adult education in the secondary vocational schools, c) school staff, mostly teachers. The total number of participants is 68 (54 participants in mobility,12 accompanying persons and two teachers in the former VETPRO system).
13 mobility waves will include twelve mobilities of students' practical work and one mobility of school staff- teachers:
-- 8 students of SŠFKZ, beauty therapy program, Espoo in Finland, October 2014 and October 2015, four weeks,
- 8 students of SZŠ, practical nurses program, Espoo in Finland, February 2015 and February 2016, four weeks,
- 14 students of SŠFKZ, beauty therapy program (4), dental technician program (6) in pharmaceutical technician (4), Helsinki in Finland, March 2015 and March 2016, three weeks,
- 8 students of SŠFKZ, technician of biomedicine program (4) and beauty therapy program (4), Jurmala and Riga in Latvia, October 2014 and October 2015, three weeks,
- 4 students of SZŠ, practical nurse program, Jurmala and Riga, October 2015, four weeks,
- 8 students of SŠFKZ, beauty therapy program, Tenerife in Canary Islands, Spain, May 2015 and May 2016, three weeks,
- 4 students of SZŠ, practical nurse program, Aaarhus in Denmark, November 2015, four weeks.
Each group will be accompanied by a teacher for the first week of staying abroad.
The 13th mobility vawe will include two teachers of SŠFKZ, beauty therapy program, who will do a week long activity in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain (former VETPRO system), October 2014.
Participants will do practical work/on the job learning in beauty salons, dental laboratories, pharmacies, hospitals and homes for elderly. All mobilities will include European tools Europass CV and Europass mobility. Some mobilities will also include ECVET credit system and transfer of innovation.
Three main project themes are: a) quality, b) prevention of drop-out students in education, c) EU citizenship, EU awareness and democracy.
PROJECT NEEDS AND GOALS - Project adresses:
- personal and professional growth of an individual participant,
- development of other partners, cooperation of various sectors, social partners and companies,
- national and European citizenship and awareness, the usage of European tools and programs, learning of foreign languages, multiculturalism,
- the involvement of participants of various social backgrounds as well as those with different kinds of special needs, vulnerable groups included, regular students and students in the adult education system, Slovene and other nationalities,
- the deficiary vocational profiles and 'professions of the future' in the field of health studies and work, a need for the trained professionals in the field of health care has been increasing with time due to aging of the population,
- support of new knowledge and qualifications, better study and work quality, innovations in the systems, practice and institutions,
- strategies for lifelong learning and mobility as well as cooperation between various schools and work institutions. Project does not only include mobility, but grows into other European projects, such as ECVET and Leonardo Transfer of Innovation, some participants will benefit from ECVET and Innovation project.
SHORT AND LONG TERM RESULTS OF THE PROJECT are:
- EU awareness, awareness of a wide range of possibilities for an individual and groups in the European framework,
- knowledge, new and/or improved qualifications and competences in personal and professional life,
- EU networking, finding new partners for international cooperation,
- higher tolerance for different cultures, multiculturalism,
- active and passive improvement of foreign language knowledge,
- involvement in the qualitative mobility project,
- better motivation for various aspects of lifelong learning, more innovative work and life of individuals.
