Crossing the Borders through Creative Play (Group EVS 2008)
Start date: Aug 1, 2008,

Crossing the Borders through Creative Play is a Group EVS program organised in Rijswijk near the city of The Hague. A group of 19 volunteers (out which 9 volunteers will be young people with fewer opportunities) will take active part in the summer holiday activities (Vakantiebos) in the multicultural youth centre Rijswijk. This program aims and has the potential to give young people a first experience of European Voluntary Service promoting intercultural learning and European awareness in a mixed group experience. Vakantiebos activities and the activities as a group in Don Boscohuis Rijswijk will ensure that the learning takes place not only on an individual basis but also in a group. It gives 19 young people from 8 different countries a good opportunity, to Cross the Borders of their countries, Culture, language and at the same time get to know the youth work on a European scale and will promote many more individual EVS possibilities for our organisation and partner organisations. Our partner organizations knowing the benefits of joining our projects, specially requested us in organizing a Group EVS during this period. This will be the second time that we are organising this Group EVS and we learned a lot from last year and hope to make it the best experience for young people. The Vakantiebos has also great impact on a local level; to promote European awareness and new EVS possibilities. Vakantiebos celebrates 42 years of its existence. This year again we hope to celebrate it with a European dimension with the presence of the European volunteers. The activity for the volunteers lasts for 3 full weeks in the beautiful park of Den Burcht, Rijswijk.
