Crossing Borders is a renowned international training initiative, which aims to foster co-productions between Europe and Asia and produce new content for the audiovisual markets of both continents. Crossing Borders will celebrate its 6th training year in 2016 with a targeted programme designed to serve the needs of the audiovisual industry.At the CB workshops, participants not only receive instructions from an international team of industry experts but also benefit from valuable peer-to-peer learning as they share information and experience with participants from other countries and documentary traditions. The workshops are all about the exchange of knowledge, expertise and contacts across borders.The workshops cover all aspects of documentary production for the international market. Participants learn how to propel their films from local to global and ultimately get the opportunity to present their projects at Access Point Asia in Leipzig in front of a panel of international commissioners, channel heads and distributors. These contacts are not only crucial to the advancement of the projects pitched, but are also the participants’ first step towards buildinglong-term relationships with the movers and shakers of the industry.And, just as the participants benefit from peer-to-peer learning so too do the decision makers as they meet with colleagues from around the world at the pitching event. Previous Crossing Borders editions show that these initial contacts blossom into long-term alliances between broadcasters, growing and enhancing the international documentary field.
