Due to implementation of EU natureconservation and water managementpolicies, Latvia and Lithuania face similarchallenges thus it is important to shareavailable experience and expertise,especially in the bordering regions where themismanagement of resources by one partycan influence the other side.The project objective is to strengthencooperation among Bauska (LV) andBiržai (LT) regions for better nature andwater management through integration ofenvironmental issues into planning processes.The project promotes sustainable useand maintenance of nature and waterresources as well as balanced economicdevelopment in Bauska and Biržai regionsby developing a number of case/feasibilitystudies: management plan for nature parkBauska, establishment of demonstrationsites for nature conservation with installationof the nature trails and demonstration sitesfor clean up of river banks to increase fishpopulation, reconstruction of lock-gate inCeraukste Parish, restoration of lake Širvėnahabitats in Biržai Municipality as well aspromotion of participation of local society.
