Youth exchange “Creative traditions” will take place from 27 August to 2 September 2016 in a small village Veliki Žitnik in Croatia, gathering 24 participants from 4 different countries, France, Slovakia, Lithuania and Croatia, 6 from each country – 1 team leader and 5 participants. Participants should be between 15 and 25 years old and 1 team leader per national group can be older then 30. We aim to include half of participants facing obstacles – geographical, economical, educational or social. Local youth from rural underprivileged Croatian region of Lika with rich traditions still being kept alive, respected and most importantly preserved are very eager at sharing their tradition, customs and cultures with the ones from other countries, through different non-formal ways of learning in a 7 day youth exchange. Goal is to share traditions, customs, traditional crafts and folklore (dances, songs, costumes …) as well as traditional sports using many different methods and tools of non-formal learning – learning by doing, learning from experience and learning in an informal way by living and working together with youth from other countries and cultures in a new and different place for 8 days.Youth supported with their team leaders and OBC support staff will need to prepare before the youth exchange in their sending organizations with their team leaders for the following activities:Presenting and demonstrating traditional sport from their country as they choose and decide by themselvesPrepare some traditional stories from their country as they choose and decide by themselvesIntercultural night – to be able to present some dances, songs, food and customs from their country.Participants should be motivated to be involved on the blog of the project that we will create for the project where the photos from the project, activities and testimonials of participants will be put.Participants should be ready to do a small project on their return back home sharing their experiences and promoting exchange of cultures, traditions, sports in their local community – it can be workshop in a local youth club, in a local school ... – they choose the way they will do it and publish what they will do on the project´s blog within 2 months after the youth exchange. During the youth exchange participants will actively participate:practical workshops - local folklore dancing workshops, canoeing (traditional sport in Lika), local traditional clay handicraft;interactive presentations and sharing sessions about the topics of the project - traditions and folklore in our countries, sharing local traditional stories.Participants will visit city of Gospić through a city bound, Nikola Tesla memorial centre, and have the Outward Bound experience of outdoor teambuilding games and activities. Involved will be local community, local young people, local canoe club, local youth folklore ensemble, local museum of Lika.
