The main objective of the project is to establish a part of the Region of Epirus in Greece close to the borders with Albania (Zagori, Konitsa and Pogoni) and the Region of Gjirokaster in Albania as one of the most important tourist destinations in Europe, by creating a stable Network of Thematic and Alternative Tourism (TATNetwork), which is based on the enhancement and promotion of high cultural and environmental heritage of the region with focus on the interpretation of potential tourism resources. The TATNetwork will be also based on the presence of the Information Centers with the relevant exhibitions and Interpretive Routes on 5 and 3 selected themes in Greece and Albania. In this way the TATNetwork is created based on the principles of interpretation of the tourism product (Information Centers in combination with Interpretive Routes and their promotion).The area of the project is the broad basin of Aoos river and its tributaries, Voidomatis, Sarantaporos and Drinos, which is shared in both countries. More specifically in the project will participate the Municipalities of Konitsa, Zagori and Pogoni on the Greek part and on the Albanian part the Municipalities of Petran, Lenxhuri and Pogon. Expected Results: The recording and evaluation of tourism resources in terms of thematic and alternative tourism. Targeting the direction of tourism to the thematic and alternative tourism in relation to the general and local status of the tourist market. The establishment of a local thematic and alternative tourism network (TATNetwork).The prolongation of stay of visitors to the area due to their guidance through the Information Centres and Interpretive Routes. The increase of the annual number of visitors to the area through the promotion of the cultural and nature richness as well as the TATNetwork The contribution to the development of the area through the increase of the income of the members of the local community dIRectly or indIRectly from tourism
