In a knowledge-based economy, a company’s physical workspace is not as important as virtual networks and clusters. A virtual incubator and business information centre is an ideal way for start-ups to exchange business ideas and experiences so they can become competitive, profitable businesses. The project aims at creating a joint virtual business support network for innovative start-up companies. The virtual incubator will be a storeroom of information with 104 hours of online courses, while experts will be available to provide information and advice. There are also plans to make a digital map of creative industries and innovative businesses, and also organise two interregional career fairs. Career Fair, a part of the project, opened students and potential entrepreneurs an opportunity of getting all the necessary information about practicum, summer jobs, future career perspectives and tips on how to start their own business. Klaipeda Economic Development Agency has launched online questionnaire to find out the demand for particular services and products that will be provided by the business incubator. The questionnaire also asks about the common problems faced by business start-ups. The questionnaire revealed that the most common difficulties business start-ups face in creating a company are the lack of working capital and initial capital. The majority of respondents face these problems even while doing business. According to the results, the most demanded services that potential online business incubator users need include e-consultation on e-marketing, financial management, business strategy planning and remote workshops/training, business partner search and creation of virtual portfolio.
