During a five-day joint seminar in Berlin, social workers from various European countries will discuss best practices to prepare young, disadvantaged people (aged 16 to 25) for a successful integration into society and the labour market. Unemployment rates for young people are high. Every country is implementing programmes to solve this problem. The main focus of this week-long seminar is for youth workers to share experiences of everyday matters, including the reporting on particular needs of the target group and the tools/methods/programmes they use to motivate and support the young people. How can youth workers at various institutions (school, training establishments, youth support services etc.) support especially young and disadvantaged people in order to find their way into an independent life? What do these young people need to kick off their working career and to become part of society? The organisations participating in the project will discuss these questions and appropriate methods. Each partner country will present its work with disadvantaged young people and its strategy for bridging the gap between the needs of the youth and the expectations of society. This includes best practice models at a national and an international level, such as mobility projects for young people. One such programme could be the ERASMUS + mobility project (youth exchange and long-term mobility) aimed at encouraging young people. The participants are to develop essential skills, including devising a guideline for a successful preparation, implementation and follow-up of mobility projects.
