Youth unemployment is a topic of high importance all over Europe. According to European Commission youth unemployment in all European Union countries has reached 21.7 % in July 2014. Every fifth young person is unemployed and that clearly indicates that there is a need for solutions on European level, as well as in each country separately. Responsible parties for this field are not just governments, educational systems, job market, but also young people themselves and non-governmental organizations, that work with this target group. It is hard to predict specific professions that will be the most demanded in future, but it is possible to develop skills, which will help young people to enter and integrate into dynamic, competitive and international job market.
Apollo Research Institute (previously The University of Phoenix Research institute) has identified TOP 10 most important future work skills in 2020. With the aim to sense these TOP 10 future work skills, Youth Exchange „CreActive Skills Lab” gathered 36 young people from Latvia, Greece, Poland, Macedonia, Romania and Italy. For 10 days in Latvia youngsters had a chance to discover these skills through different non-formal education methods, creative workshops and active outdoor activities, which imply learning by doing and experiential learning methods. The main aim of the youth exchange was to enhance youth growth, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and skills in order to integrate into the job market more successfully.
