The Convention: Education and Work is a 5-day activity taking place in Antwerp, Belgium, during which young people will come together with various European-level decision-makers and experts and work on recommendations on the relation between education and the labour market. The aim of this project is to critically explore the relation between education and the labour market, and to make young people’s voices heard on this topic. The objectives are:1. To reflect on the skills that are being promoted in the current educational systems and policies nowadays and whether it increases young people employability or not; 2. To explore the connection between on the one hand education and labour market and on the other early school leaving and social exclusion;3. To provide a space for dialogue between young people and decision-makers in the field of education and training;4. To produce recommendations on the above-mentioned topics, from young people’s perspective and in dialogue with decision-makers. These recommendations can later be used by the young people in order to influence other decision-makers after the end of the project. In the end of the project we will have a set of recommendations on the topic and the participants will use this to continue the dialogue with decision-makers “at home”. We will also produce a video of the process which will lead up to the recommendations. All in all, the Convention will bring together 25 young participants (16 - 21 years old) and 5 team members from all over Europe. When returning to their home organisations, they will continue the dialogue with national-level decision-makers and spread the recommendations and the video throughout their own networks.
