CONSTRUYENDO UN PUENTE HACIA EUROPA
Start date: Jul 15, 2015, End date: Jul 14, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Construyendo un Puente hacia Europa" has been designed by a group of Vocational Education and Training teachers of "Colegio Santa Cruz" (Mestres de la Creu, Coop. Vcna.) in Mislata. Our school is located in a low socio-cultural and economic area with disadvantaged students, from a wide range of different nationalities, some of whom come from the Refugee Support Centre and NGOs. Our school was founded in 1963 with a reduced number of pupils and teachers. Nowadays, it has 482 students and almost 50 teachers. Given the features of our student body we are a Unique Educational Attendance Centre, an inclusive and multilingual centre. A number of competences will be acquired by the mobility participants who take part in European projects. This will enable them to cover their needs: a) With regards to the centre and staff: to internationalise the centre, to improve the teaching quality, to reduce the absenteeism from school, to improve the attention to diversity, to increase the digital competence and to improve and innovate in the management of the centre. b) In reference to the students: to raise the European feeling, to improve the methodological, linguistic, personal, digital and professional competence. Taking into account these necessities, we have decided to develop a KA1 project, with a duration of 24 months, including the following activities: a) For the staff, we will carry out a job shadowing in which we have designed a series of activities which will allow us attend in a better way to diversity, reduce absenteeism from school, acquire new methodologies and digital tools for their application in class, and to learn new ways of managing the students traineeship and new ways of centre management. b) For the students, the activities will consist in a training period in Italian companies, for a period of 3 months approximately, where they can apply all the knowledge acquire in class. The administrative duties that must be carried out are: customer service; the use of different IT programmes such as word processing and spreadsheets; reception, register and filing of documents; and the completion of official administrative documents. In spite of the internationalisation, the impact of the training received by the participants will have an effect on the methodological, personal, professional, digital and linguistic competence, which will increase. This will enable us to develop new educational projects which will imply an improvement of the results. This training will have a positive, long-term effect in our town, increasing the socio-cultural level of the population.
