PROJECT
FINISHED
The project develops an intelligent interconnection system between embedded hybrid equipments for the transport and logistics sector, by taking advantage of the complementarities of two competence centres, thus paving the way for the development of new innovating services for both sectors. The companies in the cross-border area benefit from a coherent and global service offer in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Moreover, the project aims at informing ICT companies and companies from the transport and logistics sector on ICT projects. Achievements: The C2A project enables to develop the most efficient embedded computer for road transport vehicles, on the one hand by keeping track of the latest technological developments, on the other hand by paving the way to new innovating services for the transport and logistics sector. Following the project launch seminar in February 2009, working groups were established. The R&D action jointly conducted by the two project research centres enabled making a comprehensive review of available embedded equipment in transport vehicles. The partners then analysed the project objectives and consulted the sector to find out what the needs were to define the necessary hardware and software architectures adapted to the existing interfaces. There is another study at the basis of identifying ICT projects in road transport and of 4 scenarios within the R&D action. On the basis of the scenarios used, the French and Belgian researchers exchanged their respective experience on development platforms, during conference calls and at meetings. These efforts enabled the finalisation of the technical report for the demonstration model. The architecture of the embedded C2A system was then validated thanks to the development of two demonstration models. To offer an open C2A solution and increase the number of devices supported by the system, the two research centres developed a methodology using information from the database of the C2A exchange platform to integrate new devices. The platform, that is linked to a web portal as an extension of the present C2A website, aims at providing the demanding or supplying companies of equipment and/or services with the possibility to publish and manage their technical and commercial profile, search, make new contacts, and describe their tender or request.
