The Project ‘Con l’Europa 2016’ is aimed at 95 students of the fourth year (among five years of study) of an interregional consortium of Technical and Vocational Institutes, coordinated by “I.I.S. Virgilio” institute of Mussomeli, Sicily. They are four Sicilian and two Venetian schools, representing the study fields of: Agriculture – Services for the agriculture and the rural development; Hotel, restaurant and catering, Hospitality; technical Economics and Technology. The schools are located in mountain or piedmont areas where, after years of economic recession, there are some signals of economic upturn, especially in the sectors most dedicated to the export and the international market. On the other hand, these territories suffer from problems related to the lack of infrastructural and virtual connectivity – the ‘digital divide’ is still high -, and to the persistent isolation and cultural localism. The Project aims at contributing to address the necessary educational challenges, which are in particular: - Improving and innovating competences, by promoting new alphabetizations (digital education, foreign language learning); - Intensifying the links between school and the world of work, the education to entrepreneurship and students’ mobility; - Stimulating the innovation and competitiveness, by fostering an internationalized and interdisciplinary training. Among the attended outcomes, there is the creation of start-up and companies by the students. ‘Con l’Europa 2016’ is a training project focused on full time internship in companies and entities chosen with coherence to the objectives and fields of study of the participants. The destination will be United Kingdom, France, Spain, which are both target countries and ‘competitors’. The learning experience at the company will be organized with reference to ECVET procedures and will lead to the recognition of the learning outcomes and their certification by the school. All participants will receive the Europass Mobility Document and the Certificate of Competencies, that will be possibly used soon for entering the labour market or tertiary level education.
