PROJECT
FINISHED
The project 'Competences and skills for the professionalisation of VET staff' consisted of two teacher training programmes called
1. Media competences for teachers
2. Upgrading skills and competences of staff in vocational language teaching.
Due to the changes on the economic and social scale in the Ruhr Area the vocational college 'Berufskolleg West der Stadt Essen' has the responsibility to maintain this business location and its competitiveness. Therefore, the Berufskolleg West pursues its course of internationalisation through the development of human resources.
By this project the teachers developed their job-related competence, intercultural competence as well as language competence. After the training they worked as multipliers for their colleagues to integrate their skills and competencies both into the curricula and school organization. This is also part of the quality management at the vocational college 'Berufskolleg West'.
Activity 1:
The participants gained competences regarding concepts for the integration of media and computers, e.g. computer games, into lessons and its use for the individual support of students. The training focussed also both on the integration of media in school organization procedures and public relations work.
The activity focussed on the pedagogical media-usage and how it supports individualized and collaborative learning in lessons but also critically reflected on its usage. It took into account data security aspects and legal issues. The participants got to know the impact on and potential for schools within a European context.
Activity 2:
The participants enhanced their competences with respect to the work with classes of students with a heterogeneous knowledge of English. They got an insight into job-related teaching techniques and methods for adult education in foreign language teaching as well as evaluation systems within the European framework regarding a new curriculum in the field of metalwork that was introduced in autumn 2015 in Northrhine Westphalia. The participants enhanced their intercultural skills and understanding for vocational education at a European level.
