Comparison of Barrier Nursing in Medical Facilities in Slovenia, Turkey and Czech republic

Considering the permanently increasing resistance of infectious diseases, bacteria and viruses, it is necessary to acquaint our students with inovations in the field of treating patients with the help of barrier nursing. It is very beneficial for the students to familiarize how the other EU states advance in this field and thus decrease the potential risk of infection transmission to patients. This project arose on the grounds of all partnership organizations needs analysis. The aim of this project is quality improvement and intensification of specific nursing activities as well as acquiring new skills in the field of barrier nursing. Another goal is the possibility and recommendation of quality barrier nursing examples transmission, adopting new creative and inovative methods in treating patients with barrier nursing and their application in tuition of nursing and in specialized practice, familiarization with new tuition and study materials of partnership organizations concerning barrier nursing, personal growth and motivation of lerners and teachers in practice, improvement of language skills, acquiring personal experience with tuition at foreign school, forming links of international collaboration and intercultural relations (mutual collaboration on future projects, getting new contacts).The project is aimed to the target group of secondary nursing school students, whose task will be to find out in the medical institutions inovations and news in the field of barrier nursing. The criterion for selection of students will be the study branch. The concerned students would be the from the 3rd year of study of the branch Medical assistant. The students of all schools that could be concerned will be informed about the possibility of taking part in the educational stay through the school websites, notice on the main noticeboard, informative leaflets and personal meeting of the applicants with the project manager. Students will be informed, that criteria for applicants selection will be the study results, technical knowledge, language skills, motivation, social adaptability and maturity, general study prerequsites, which can be defined as a specific study potential. The students´ task will be to find out inovations and news in the field of barrier nursing right in the medical institutions.Each partnership organization will prepare a work group (6 learners and 2 accompanying teachers). The group will gather necessary information and transfer it to its home organization. The planned journeys are: Czech group to Slovenia, Slovenian group to Turkey, Turkish group to the Czech republic. Each work stay will take 5 work days + 2 days for travelling. Each group will have a task to fill in the necessary information into the portfolio (according to the manual formerly prepared). The portfolio will include three main parts: 1. protective aids 2.desinsection 2. sterilization. Each work group will carry out 3 presentations about barrier nursing in particular visited countries (visited institutions). Topics of the presentations will be : 1. protective aids, 2. desinsection 3. sterilization. They will carry out a technical article for each presentation. They will also carry out the PDF handbook for the whole organization accompanied with photographs from the stay, everything will be put in the portfolio. Finally, there will be carried out a handbook in English for all 3 organizations containing 9 presentations and 9 articles – 3 for using protective aids (Czech, Slovenian, Turkish), 3 for desinsection (Cz, Sl, Tu) and 3 for strilization (Cz, Slo, Tur). At the end there will be a short 3 days meeting in the Czech republic (two participants from each partnership organization), where the final version of portfolio will be agreed on.Results of the students´ findings will be elaborated into portfolio (electronic, in English), they will be compared and displayed on the school websites to be freely accessible for interested persons after finishing the project. Presentations will be used at school events, technical articles will be published in the school annual. Technical articles will be published about all work meetings. The portfolio will be used by teachers in specialized tuition and in English lessons. There also be the implementation of project results into curriculum of all 3 partnership organizations. The purpose of the project is also establishment of the platform for formal and informal contacts and stimulation of their development to assure the improvement of collaboration among Czech republic, Slovenia and Turkey. And also an exchange of experience and knowledge in the issue of setting and providing barrier nursing in partnership countries.
