Start date: May 2, 2016, End date: Mar 1, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Climb for inclusion! Youth exchange on sport as educational tool” is a youth exchange that will take place in Braga (Portugal) from the 24th of July to the 1st of August 2016, gathering together 46 young participants coming from 7 EU Countries.During the days of activities, participants will become aware and discuss the topics of social inclusion, social exclusion and its related themes, such as the obstacles that young people with fewer opportunities face in everyday life. The focus of the project will be on sport, meant as an effective way to combat social exclusion. In fact, participants will explore the multiple ways in which sport can have a positive impact on youngsters’ personal development, in particular as tool for the improvement of social skills and abilities to face up life’s challenges. Through a large set of activities, participants will discover and experiment the manifold ways through which sport can be an educational method that leads to inclusion. Furthermore, the planned activities aim at setting the basis for the building of a bridge between youth work and sport in order to create and potentiate learning possibilities for youngsters with fewer opportunities.During the whole implementation of the youth exchange the concept of fewer opportunities will be highlighted. Social and economic obstacles, disability, educational difficulties, cultural differences, health problems and geographical obstacles will be identified to give to the participants a clear idea of the critical situations that their peers could face.Non formal methodology will be used for the implementation of the sessions (through non formal presentations, debates, simulations, sport activities, role-plays, case studies, outdoor activities, sharing of good practices, brainstorming…).The 30th of July participants will join the national event organised by the coordinating organization NEMA, in order to be the witnesses of the main result of our work that uses climbing as a tool for inclusion and self-development. During this event, participants will set up a corner where, through their testimonies, will present this project and the Erasmus + Programme to the local public. Moreover, visits to the local NGOs and sport centres will be organized in order to present the work that has been developed in Braga and to establish an exchange of good practices among local youth workers and participants coming from abroad. A meeting with representative of the municipality and with local press will be organized, to present the project and the Erasmus + Programme. Through these meetings, press, authorities, local associations and experts who are working on the above mentioned fields will be involved to give a contribution in terms of contents, visibility and local impact.Participants will be invited to invest the information and experience gained during the youth exchange at local level, sharing them with local NGOs and with their peers. A series of activities to disseminate the results of the project will be implemented, in order to spread the outcomes and to multiply the effects of the whole project.
