Start date: Jan 26, 2006, End date: Dec 30, 2007 PROJECT  FINISHED

SEBco enables medium-sized cities to become motors for regional development in the South Eastern Baltic Sea Region. It uses and establishes networks of cooperation on regional level between cities and their hinterland as well as on international level within the so-called South Baltic Arc. Furthermore, SEBco concentrates on issues that are in the competence of local and regional partners in order to achieve concrete results:WP1 New city-suburban alliances initiates city-hinterland cooperation. These offer possibilities for efficient allocation of public services and for coordinated spatial development planning.WP2 Large-scale industrial areas elaborates innovative municipal planning processes for the development of industrial areas.WP3 Accessibility of medium-sized cities prepares complex revitalisation measures for the development of neglected secondary railway services.WP4: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as motors of internationalisation contributes to foreign trade connections of medium-sized cities in the South Baltic Arc through the development of selected SMEs in respect to a more intense use of cross-national production processes.WP5: Networks of knowledge serves as an umbrella and offers space for the international and interregional exchange about the themes of the other four work packages. Hence the thematic work will be oriented on international standards. Furthermore, innovative approaches elaborated within SEBco will be disseminated to other regions and countries in the Baltic Sea Region.
