The CITIES project aims at developing a series of language learning courses based on didactic & information materials, which will enable the learning and development of technical language skills amongst employees originating from Balkan countries, particularly those working in Italy and Germany. The project expects to encourage active participation in the socio-economic, political and cultural life of the host countries by assisting the target group to overcome potential communication and integration problems. Project partners will develop a range of electronic and paper-based tools, which will focus specifically upon safety in the workplace. Users will be able to use the above mentioned tools in order to strengthen their own linguistic skills as well as to learn a range of technical & regulatory content appropriate to the workplace. All products will be made available in IT, DE & EN. The project is mainly targeted to workers originating from Balkan countries, working in metalmechanic SME’s in Italy and Germany. Dissemination activities will rely upon existing partner networks for the involvement of relevant stakeholders throughout the project lifetime and upon the organisation of national and transnational seminars & conferences, the launch of a dedicated project website and the release of articles to specialist press.
