CHILDREN: RIGHT TO FUTURE!
Start date: Dec 1, 2013,

"CHILDREN: Right to future!" was an international cooperation and awareness-raising EVS group project launched by FOCSIV - Italian Coordinator and Sending NGO - and 4 other Sending Organizations. The main themes were the rise of European awareness (values and active citizenship), Children rights and the Cooperation with Developing Countries. FOCSIV aimed at spreading a culture of solidarity among young people in order to promote active citizenship for the creation of a new welcoming society based on peace, human dignity, respect and nonviolence. The project also tackled the annual priority of Youth unemployment, a real social pathology in this day and age, which leads to social exclusion. Through this experience, promoters wanted to help the unemployed youth to re-discover their active and important role in society. The project involved 23 volunteers for a 12-month period of volunteering activities in Peru, India, Tanzania, Guinea Bissau and Madagascar, from January, 1st to December, 31st 2014. The main objective was to better children and youth conditions, strengthening the Hosting Organizations activities in the field of Children care and Youth. According to their attitudes and personal interests, European volunteers were involved in school and vocational training support, play and recreational activities, awareness-raising actions on children rights and right to education, home care and family support. The approach was based on a non-formal education methodology and relied on the volunteers in all the creative project stages. FOCSIV assisted volunteers in discovering the intercultural content of the experience and becoming aware during their self-learning process. Volunteers acquired skills and competences attested by the Youthpass certification and enriched their cultural background, giving young beneficiaries hope for the future. There were 16 Youthpass certifications demanded so far.
