The project On your own, hosted and coordinated by Lifsmotun in Iceland (2012-ISL-1), is a 10 month project from September 2013 until May 2014 with 1 volunteer from Germany (sending organisation: Landesverband Sächsischer Jugendbildungswerke e.V., 2011-DE-113). Main themes of the project are: Youth leisure and Children. The volunteers’ work fields are several. The main emphasis is on supporting the school environment in Laugar (urban area in Northeast Iceland) and participation in leisure time activities of students in 3 schools (Kindergarten, Children's school (from 1st to 10th grade) and High School). By participation of the volunteer and through his introduction of own culture and country European awareness of especially young people will grow. The volunteer will help the students to establish contact with young people in Europe. All the schools are also active in promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical activities including sport and this is also to be one of volunteers many work fields.
