CESEI
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aims to set up a working relationship between CESIE as a hosting organization and UcDean as a sending organization, within which they aim to select, prepare and guide three volunteers in completing an EVS project with CESIE in Palermo, Italy. Under the guidance of CESIE and UcDean, these volunteers will become active in the various centers of CEISE, with a particular focus on immigrant children and the local homeless community. The participants will be encouraged to fully engage in all projects that CESIE is involved in and will additionally be highly stimulated to develop and carry out individual projects. Through this the volunteers will have the opportunity to learn more about local minorities, develop personal competences, such as independence, social skills, setting up personal projects, and hosting events. Additionally it will be highly stimulated, both through active lessons and the work at the centres, to learn the Italian language. In all this, the volunteer will be supported by the highly experienced CESIE staff, a personal mentor form CESIE, and a personal mentor from UcDean. Together we hope to provide the volunteers with a unique set of experiences and gained skills that will help them in their personal and professional lives, and will give them a deepened understanding of the position of minorities in Italy and live in Palermo. To optimize this, monitoring and evaluation of the learning process is stimulated through meetings with the CESIE staff, the mentors and by working on the YouthPass. The continuous evaluation is completed upon the return of the volunteer by contact with UcDean and will hopefully will be continued afterwards through contact with other young people interested in EVS.
