The ICBAN region has a specific and unique nature and a set of common experiences of marginalisation, removal in historical terms from the centre of decision making on both sides of the border, and therefore, significant challenges for the integrated and 'joined-up' development of the region. This initiative will address the need for a co-ordinated and agreed set of future investment priorities for the region, as well as developing operational and working linkages which will promote greater collaboration in respect of land use and other planning in the region. It seeks to place economic regeneration activities in the same framework as land use on the basis that these need to be more clearly and formally interlinked in the region to ensure that the region can catch-up and avail of key opportunities while removing traditional barriers to progressive regional development which have existed in the region to date.
