The subject of this application is to implement a process of creating the institutional framework for the Romanian Youth Capital title, actively involving 50 young people and experts in youth policy at local and national level in the process. During a period of 12 months, in two workshops and a National Youth Meeting held during the General Assembly of the European Youth Forum from 19 to 23 November, 2014, these young people will prepare the methodological framework for launching the Romanian Youth Capital competition, based on which results the coordination team will prepare the final documentation for the first national contest (website, guide, application form, assessment methodologies, jury - evaluators ). The young participants of the various stages of this project will be between 18 and 30 years old, their selection process being based on the principle of social justice and gender equality.
The Romanian Youth Capital programme can become the most effective instrument to mobilize existing local resources to generate economic and social development, based on real needs and of young people. By creating a framework for this program, which addresses youth as the main factor in urban development we can attract the attention of central and local decision-making bodies to the importance of inclusion of young people, the local community in decision making, but also empower young people to be actively involved in the development of their society. By preparing their candidacy for the title of the Romanian Youth Capital, several cities from our country will make a commitment to create a framework for dialogue with young people, which will be beneficial not only for the cities enrolled in the competition, but also for the rural areas surrounding them. Promoting a sense of responsibility and encouraging the active involvement of young people in community development will create a community based on common values. Regarding the long-term benefits of the project, we can say that young people actively involved in the development of the city will become active and responsible citizens, loyal and productive members of the community. Moreover, by promoting transparent governance, an open attitude and promotion of collaboration and inclusion, the program can generate a greater openness to cross-sectorial collaboration throughout the country. The increased visibility of youth work, civil society initiatives and volunteering programs, which our project can provide, will help to create regional partnerships and development projects based on the exchange of best practices.
