C.I.E. Cultural Identities' Equality
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Jun 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The inclusion of all parts of society, beyond the differences of culture and citizenship is essential for a true democratic growth. Phenomena of marginalization and social exclusion have sometimes led to discrimination and that may lead to the collapse of our social system so strongly cultural diversified. Valuing differences asadded value rather than treath them as a reason for exclusion is a necessary step towards a model of consistent inclusiveness. The transition from a negative view of diversity, which generates hate, in a positive vision, for which it is transformed into an opportunity for growth and enrichment, however, is related to the maintenance and preservation of their collective identity, rather than assimilation. The model of assimilation, which destroys any specificity, in the name of equality, has shown its failure; diversity and equality, therefore, need to be considered parallel and indivisible values. In this context, the project aims to highlight the role and functioning of stereotypes, especially on a subconscious level, as the main factor of discrimination that prevent the transition from a negative view of the "different" as a positive factor for cultural enrichment . The project represents an opportunity to experience the diversity and approach to the reality of young migrants to understand the various facets of this complex issue. Participants in fact besides the various activities that provide a direct comparison with these realities (direct testimony of young migrants living in Italy, visit NGO working on this field, presentation of the situation in the partner countries) will work (with the volounteers fromArarat association) to create a choreography to present in public during the final exhibition. These activities represent a concrete opportunity to be an active part in the process of inclusion fwithout prejudices. The project C.I.E. Cultural Identities'Equality will be held in Rome involving 36 young participants from: Italy, Turkey, Greece, Spain, Czech Republic and Romania.
