Building the Future: Inclusion of Kosovo Minorities Now

This EVS project aims to encourage youth voluntarism, promote multiculturalism, and foster social inclusion of disadvantaged groups in Kosovo. These goals will be realized by volunteering in both the BSF office and our 5 Learning Centres. Five EVS volunteers (Ireland, Poland, Finland, UK, Italy) will work with Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in Kosovo for 10 months assisting local staff. Each EVS volunteer will assist in one particular area of work:1. Advocacy - The volunteer will support the Strategy Advocacy Project Coordinator, in advocacy for implementation of the government’s “Strategy for the integration of Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in the Republic of Kosovo”, including analysis of “Strategy” news, laws, documents and developments, and participate in preparing advocacy related communications;2. Communications and Public Relations - The volunteer will be supervised by the Development and Communications Coordinator to work on periodic newsletter, social media, project reports, media relations, etc.; 3. Learning Centers Network - The volunteer will support the Learning Centers Network (LCN) Coordinators in implementation of current LCN program and in development of new LCN projects and activities; 4. Research - The volunteer will support the BSF International coordinator to assist in desk research and designing and evaluating field research in three current projects;5. Volunteer Program - With the Volunteer Coordinator, the volunteer will support local and international volunteers and promote voluntarism in Kosovo.The project will also include a training curriculum especially arranged for these volunteers, but that will also include 10 additional local and international colleagues from Balkan Sunflowers and partner programs. In 10 trainings, participants will learn about NGO work: organization, building NGO capacities, project development. staff and volunteer management, communication, etc.
