The project will respond directly to the needs of investment in small-scale infrastructure for access improvement to cultural sites in the cross-border region. Development of joint plan for management of cultural sites, as well as carrying out of practices exchange seminars will enhance target groups’ capacity for sustainable use of cultural resources aiming at socio-economic development of the region. Furthermore, the project envisages activities for popularization of cultural heritage in both municipalities that will respond to the need of awareness rising in terms of tourism development based on valorization and preservation of cultural resources. The project will have strong cross-border impact and will directly contribute for strengthening territorial cooperation in achieving common goals. Achievements: As a result of the project it was improved access and attractiveness to 2 cultural sites and joint plan for management of cultural sites in cross-border region was developed. The investment activities in Bansko have been contributed for access improvement to the recently found ruins of a Thracian fortress and Thracian mounds Christian basilica in the archeology complex St. Nikola for the visitors of the municipality; The investment activities in Vinica have been contributed for access improvement to significant cultural, historical and archeological site Kale. The activity has been aimed at establishing conditions for sustainable development of the region through developing cultural tourism; 2 practices exchange seminars “Cultural sites management” were carried out; Information activities and press conference were implemented in Bansko and Vinica.
