BiCiSOL is a nine-month EVS project hosting two volunteers in Can Decreix, Cerbère, a small border town at the Mediterranean coast between France and Spain, at the beginning of the Pyrenees. One of its objectives is providing young people with the tools to counter the economic crisis and find a sustainable way of living by developing, experiencing and showing positive examples based on ecological sustainability and social innovation. The second project objective is advancing Can Decreix as an educational and artistic center for ecological degrowth, and a place which acts as a bridge between various actors in the field of ecological sustainability (producers, practitioners and civil society). The two volunteers will work on the establishment of a network for exchange of ecological products, knowledge and services on local level. They will furthermore contribute to the establishment of Can Decreix as a center for education, ecological practices and research and assist in the organization of a Summer School on Degrowth in the summer of 2015. They will also participate in the improvement of the practical day-to-day functioning of the center. The initiation of a network for exchange of practices and products on local level will expand the range of possibilities for economic and social action and innovation for the young people in the region. The project will equip the young people who join the various educational events of Can Decreix with critical thinking, practical experiences and inspiring acquaintances which would empower them to combat the economic uncertainties while taking into consideration environmental sustainability.
