The 2 week short-term EVS project "Build Up!" EVS camp will take place in Veliki Žitnik, Croatia in educational centre of Outward Bound Croatia, from 17 - 30 August 2016, gathering 24 volunteers from 8 countries, Latvia Estonia, Spain, Italy, Macedonia, Greece, Germany and Bulgaria - 3 from each country. The objective of this project is to raise awareness of young people of preserving the nature, traditional handworks and other cultures, to help them evolve their orientation skills, to manage unknown situations and to work as a team. This positive experiences should motivate young people to tell others about them, create their own projects, participate in other kinds of volunteering and use all this in their future.Volunteers will be involved in many different volunteer tasks and develop many skills and competences gaining a valuable life experience. Volunteers will:- do handicraft work with natural resources - working with wood, creating a sundial and a guidepost, hay feeder for wild animals and small wooden houses for birds, learning about flora and fauna, creating a handbook with local plants and animals (to be available to all the future young participants of youth projects in the educational centre and local children and youth) - do community service volunteer work - leaving something useful and creative behind - cleaning the environment, planting, decorating the educational centre to leave motivating message for future young participants of future youth projects in educational centre, sharing EVS experiences with local youth- organize non-formal language courses by each national group of volunteers for the rest of the volunteer group- organize and participate sharing sessions, intercultural evening to share dances, folklore, songs, as well as separate intercultural evening where volunteers cook their traditional food (local youth are invited and included in these activities) - participate practical workshops - first aid in the nature, using wild plants for food, orientation, using a sundial- visit cave park Grabovača - protected natural site.Volunteers will develop their foreign language skills by everyday communication in English and participating in intercultural language sessions. Their cultural awareness and civic competences as well as different social skills (team work, time management, organizational skills) will raise. Through described non-formal and informal learning activities, volunteers will gain and develop skills and competences this projects aims to, by doing different volunteer tasks and involving local youth, we will reach objective to make young people from different countries and cultures aware of the importance of preserving and protecting nature, to make them more familiar about traditions in rural areas and connect them with the local youth. Local community will benefit from the project, environment will be cleaner, local people and local youth will learn about Erasmus+ opportunities and will also have intercultural learning, future generations of children and youth, participants of educational programs in OBC educational centre will use the handbook created during this project and the surroundings of the educational centre will be enriched with interesting and useful objects like the guidepost, sundial, animal feeders.
