BTS 2002 - Aptitude-based training strategies - aptitude-based training strategies in the field of health and safety for people with disabilities BTS - Practically-based training modules on occupational safety, health and environmental protection for disadvantaged and disabled young people in initial vocational training

The six partners are planning a 30-month project to develop teaching resources and methods specifically targeting disadvantaged and disabled young people in initial vocational training in the field of health and safety at work. The aim is to develop a long-term, Europe-oriented awareness in respect of work, health and environment. The motivation for the project was the partners' observation that disadvantaged and disabled employees are more often involved in industrial accidents. Young people are particularly affected. Training programmes for disadvantaged groups have so far given too little attention to the question of occupational safety, irrespective of sector. National project advisory boards will draw up teaching methods and content, to be tested and evaluated. These boards will comprise representatives of national authorities, insurance bodies and social partners. The curricula and training methods will make reference to national industrial safety laws and European framework directives. The results will be disseminated throughout Europe by networks for the disabled and project supervisory boards. The project will receive assistance from psychologists, education specialists and the media.
