BREAKING THE BORDERS: NATURE DISCOVERY TRAILS TO EASTERN CARPATHIANS (HUSKROUA/1001/067)

The project aims at developing a system of tourism circuits that provide rich experiences of the Carpathian nature by utilizing the existing and developing new infrastructures and education / visitor facilities, and by integrating tourism circuits into the livelihood activities of local people enabling the flow of benefits from tourism activities to the local communities. Main activities of the project are: development of transfrontier nature tourism circuits and strategy, infrastructure upgrading and development, planning and mapping of trail networks, upgrading and maintenance of trails, establishing the bird and watching facilities, familiarization visit for nature based tour operators and travel writers. Achievements: 1). The Transfrontier nature tourism circuits and strategy has been developed and are being implemented through joint planning and participation of major stakeholders providing a model of best practice and impetus for NATURA 2000 expanding to Ukraine's territory; 2). New infrastructures and facilities are designed to upgrade the quality and diversity of nature based holiday products in Eastern Carpathians, offering a variety of safety, locality identification and education experience; 3).The "Carpathian Nature" tourism product are introduced and promoted to a national/international clientele; 4). The capacity for future development and cooperation has been built to all partner organizations, target groups, beneficiaries and stakeholders through the accumulation the necessary knowledge, best practices in order to improve the quality of nature destination management, infrastructure and innovative approaches to sustainability and environment protection in a wide sense (social, economic, and natural environment).
