EKOenergy is a network of environmental organisations focussing on the promotion of sustainable renewable electricity. We develop a lot of different actions. Our most visible tool is the not-for-profit EKOenergy ecolabel. It is the only international ecolabel for electricity. Its main aim is to help consumers choose climate-friendly and nature-friendly electricity. See www.ekoenergy.org. To make sure that the purchase of renewable electricity really contributes to a better environment, we want to implement our ecolabel in as many countries as possible. That means that we need a lot of hands, and a lot of language skills. EVS has turned out to be a perfect tool to serve this needs. Since the autumn of 2012, we have got help from 25 EVS volunteers from 12 countries. A lot of what EKOenergy achieved, happened thanks to them. E.g. see our Annual Report of 2015, at www.ekoenergy.org > annual report 2015. With this new project, we want to continue and expand our activities in Poland, as well as in France and French speaking areas worldwide. We will host 2 volunteers who will both stay 12 months. They will be our main contact persons for environmental NGOs, electricity companies and consumers in Poland and France. They will develop campaigns in cooperation with other EVS volunteers at the EKOenergy secretariat, and in cooperation with stakeholders in their home country. This project is part of an ongoing process. It is a follow up of earlier EVS projects. And we expect it will be followed up by other EVS projects.
