Borderland Culture as an integration platform of local communities in Bug Euroregion (IPBU.03.02.00-06-828/12)
Start date: Dec 31, 2013, End date: Dec 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The area of the Cross-border Association of Bug Euroregion consists of Lubelskie Voivodeship in Poland, Brest Oblast in Belarus and Volyn Oblast in Ukraine. These regions are closely related to each other, if we take historic and cultural aspects into consideration, but on the other hand they have hampered integration of cultures and traditions. Through decades state borders were strongly fortified and available only to small number of people. Even now, countries borders are the biggest obstacle in maintaining free contacts among borderland communities. This Umbrella Project refers to beautiful but disappearing traditions. In order to break down the impasse in border contacts, improve the mutual relations and change mentality and stereotypes of neighbouring nations, Micro-project Partners intend to organise joint cultural events. They also want to extend the formula of joint cultural events to the international rank. It will be done through actions reflecting social spirituality, symptoms of cultivation of tradition and culture, the local authors and groups in order to convince the recipients on the other side of the border, in spite of language and mental differences, by underlying rather similarities than differences. The target groups which will be involved in this Project are persons with the lack of knowledge and experiences in the field of the cross-border cooperation, mainly: cultural life animators, representatives of authors, bands, non-governmental organisations, the Local Government Unit employees, the youth, farmers wives associations, exhibitors during feasts, participants of events and the receivers of promotional campaigns. The final beneficiaries will be also the local communities of 11 micro-projects Partners, which will be included in the Umbrella Project. This project is consistent with the Priority Nr 3 Network and people-to-people cooperation and Measure 3.2. The Local Communities Initiatives of the Cross-border Cooperation Programme Poland – Belarus – Ukraine 2007 – 2013.
