1. What is BIOPRA 2017?
BIOPRA stands for Biotechnology in Prague. The project is a 2-week long mobility-project of the European program Erasmus + Leonardo da Vinci. The partner in Czech Republik is the Forest establishment in Kostelec nad Cernymi Lesy. The Forest establishment is a company of the University of Lifesciences in Prague. The tutor is Dr. Pavel Karnet, assistant director of the Forest Establishment. The sending partner is Bernardusscholen 5, part of Bernardusscholen Oudenaarde. Promotor is director Patrick Vansteenbrugge. A whole team of teachers is responsable for the preparation and leading the project.

The group is composed of about 21 students of 17-LB years old. There will be also 7 accompanying - attendino teachers for the whole period of the project in Czech republik (1 teacher for the whole period of 17 days, 6 teachers will share the other period en accompany each for 8 days).

Although the preparations of the project will start a year before we go abroad, the project itself will start on monday 8 th of may 2017 and end on wednesday the 24th of may 2017. This means we will have 11 working days, 2 traveling days and the weekends can be used for cultural activities. All workingactivities will take place in the neighbourhood of Kostelec Nad Cernymi Lesy and Prague.
4. whv?
The school wants to give the students of the section Biotechnical Sciences a contemporary training and education in a European context to qualify in modern technlques of biotechnology, with focus on the biological and ecological aspects
According to the vision of the European Union concerning the policy in agriculture, our agriculture should make the evolution of massproduction to a sustainable agriculture, with far more attention for the environ. This expires some new social requieries. The 6 goals for Europe (and Flanders) are:
- Food (production)
- Feed (animal feed production)
- Fuel (alternative energy, energiy out of agriculture)
- Fibre (natural fibres as wel as synthetic fibres , with the agriculture as source)
- Flower (production of domestic plants , saving the landscape)
- Fun (tourisme in nature, on farms)
The most important aim of the project is to let our pupils experience these goals on modern factories and scientific centres.
The specific aims of BIOPRA are close to the aims of the Erasmus+ program: to support young people through education an skills. To qualify our students and make them citizens that can take part in the labourmarket, throughout Europe.
We are sure that with this project our students will experience a very motivating labourpractice in foodproduction, forestery and biotechnology.
Practicaly the items of food and feed will be experienced in the fishponds, at the organic goatfarm in Novy Dvur, the breeding of biochikens and Holsteincows in Lany., the winery of Melnik. Experiences in research and preservation of the environment (Flower) will be obtained through practices in the arboretum, the ornamental nursery, tree nursery and the forest. Also the working experiences in the laboratories of different departments of CULS will show the students the need of a scientific approach in order to obtain these goals. Practice in the village Knezice will show the possibilities and new evolutions in energyproduction.
