PROJECT
FINISHED
The school of Nursing Stolzalpe has organized successfully in EU- mobility projects since 2003. Our students should gain many competences through the theoretical as well as through the practical lessons. The aim of the nursing school Stolzalpe is to prepare the students at the best possible rate for the numerous challenges in the field of nursing and for lifelong learning.
By taking place in EU mobility projects the students had the possibility to get to know the education and practice of nursing in foreign countries. The students get sensitized to other culture and they could make international contacts in nursing.
The project of this year was called „counselling in nursing practice“. Counselling and health promotion are fixed in the Austrian law of nursing (§14, § 16) and in the curriculum of nursing.
The ability to communicate has a great therapeutic meaning and has to be part of each education in nursing. Also the NANDA International Classification 2012 – 2014 has defined nursing diagnosis like deficient knowledge, readiness for enhanced knowledge, readiness for enhanced self-health management for implementation of the nursing process. The students have to plan these nursing diagnoses in the theoretical as well as in the practical education. Our students are trained in the implementation of counselling. Aims of the project were to find out the meaning and the practical implementation of counselling in nursing in other countries, to define possible differences and recommendations of implementation for the national education and for nursing practice. New insights should be discussed in the lessons.
A presentation of the project was done, as well as publications in the regional newspapers and on the homepage of our School are planned.
Following partners were part of the EU mobility project:
- The legal presentative of the nursing school of Styria: the local government of Styria department 8 (health, care and science) leader of the department Mag. Dr. Birgit Strimitzer – Riedler
- The seconding organisation: School of Nursing Stolzalpe , who was responsible for the planning of the project and for the support of the students, who took place in the foreign practical trainings.
- Seven students, who have a great theoretical and practical knowledge and who showed personal maturity: The students had a great interest in the practical training and they took part on it voluntarily. The practical training took place during 17.8.2015 – 27.8.2015, 240 hours of practical training were planned for the students.
- The receiving organisation: We had chosen organisations we had been working with successfully for many years: the south Tyrolean health district Meran – hospital of Meran and the hospital “Barmherzige Brüder” in Munich an for the first time the university medical centre of Hamburg. The receiving organisations were informed about the aim of the project, the duration of the practical training, the way to stay in contact to each other, the support of the students during the practical training and about additional services like accommodation, food, working clothes. The financial matters were organized by Mrs Nadja Bischof, the director of nursing school Stolzalpe and Andrea Schnedl, teacher of nursing in the nursing school Stolzalpe. The evaluation and final presentation of the project were finished in December 2015.
