This EVS project is an individual project of 12 months, from August 2009 until August 2010. The sending organisation and volunteer are Belgian (Flemish), the host organisation is in San José, Costa Rica.The themes of the project are disabilities and youth: the activities will take place in a school for children with disability in three different areas: physical, visual and auditory or mental. There are around 196 children per year between 7 and 12 years old and some teenagers. This project gives the oopportunity to a foreign volunteer to be involved in a very important process that helps young people to prepare themselves for the future, young people which have been considered with no capacities to be productive for Costa Rican society. Activities for the volunteer will be: Assisting the teachers in the classrooms., assisting during activities for the children, work together with the psychologists, preparing and developing necessary educational materials, assisting in music and sports lessons, supporting the children for a better self esteem and development.
