The Moldovan NGO CDIR will host a Youth Exchange, bringing together 40 young people (age 18-25) from 8 countries for 9 days to share with one another about active citizenship through perspectives formed from differences in federal government impacts, family, culture, religion and traditions, as well as their visions of life and society. The YE is aimed to provide participants with key concepts for active citizenship; to enable participants to reflect on the meaning of Active European citizenship, Democratic Citizenship, and youth participation; to share experiences in relations with youth work among participants coming from different societies; to empower participants to use non formal education as a mean of empowering young people; to provide resources for participants for them to act as multipliers in their organization setting up projects which foster European Citizenship; to develop life skills for being an active citizen; and to promote European values of democracy, rule of law, and sustainable development of the society by participation. The activities of the YE will focus on participants’ understanding of active citizenship, family stereotypes, traditions and culture; they will prepare presentations from their own perspective, prejudices and modern outlook. Participants will also analyze history and influence of culture and religion of their country in the formation of an active citizen. The participants will be provided with knowledge and useful skills about local and international workshops, educational events and similar activities organized for youth on topics such as volunteering, youth work, international cooperation, YIA, participation and cultural awareness. Also, the participants will have the opportunity to explore the Moldovan culture and nature. On the last day the participants will develop a short movie and a newspaper article to promote active citizenship and volunteering.
