BAUSTELLEN als PROBEBÜHNE - Ein Trainingsprogramm für kroatische und deutsche Fachkräfte der Jugendarbeit zum Aufbau von Jugendbegegnungen in ruralen Gebieten
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

„CONSTRUCTION SITES as REHEARSAL STAGES“ is a eight-month project to educate multipliers for the development and distribution of the Youth exchanges within Europe, especially in rural regions. During several networking-meetings of Croatian and German educators, it became clear quickly that in the selected regions for the project Lika (Croatia) and Brandenburg (Germany) migration, vacancy rates and youth unemployment are correlating factors. With this project the members of MIKUB e.V. and OU Podum want to address these problems and use existing spaces for it. Our aim is to offer diverse and interdisciplinary proposals on our „CONSTRUCTION SITES as REHEARSAL STAGES“ especially to young people, to help them develope diverse skills and to give them orientation on their way from school towards job life to choose a fitting profession. In this sense, selected „construction sites“ act as a first „rehearsal stage“ for the 16 international professionals coming from Germany and Croatia, which will form in 4 intercultural and interdisciplinary teams, simulations of practical, artistic and socio-cultural learning to their colleagues during a 8 day stays. A team of 4 people (2 Germany / 2 Croatia) will accompany and interactively guide the participants by making them familiar with practical education exercises from the field of handcraft and gardening, experiential education and practical learning. The goal of these stays is, to use the long-term vacant „construction sites“ in Lika/Podum in may 2016 and Brandenburg in august 2016 in an interdisciplinary way and to enable the participating professionals and multipliers to use the ideas, methods of unformal learning, skills and knowledge they received during the stay for own and connected projects with young adults. This project is considered to be a contribution to creating new perspectives in the specific field of the transition between school and job life, in form of creating youth exchange programs in Europe. Furthermore it aims to develop youth-work-networks and to strengthen the professional profiles of youth-workers in their work with unprivileged young people especially in structurally less developed regions. Accompanying a needs analysis for the two regions in national groups will be created and a bilingual handbook developed for practical use of different methods for future youth exchanges in rural areas. The „reharsal stages“ for the workshops and internships are located on areas and associated buildings, which are given to the 2 associations MIKUB and OU Podum for longterm use. In the surrounding area of the city Otocac (Croatia), these locations are a former living-house and an old school, where the consequences of the war are still omnipresent. In Brandenburg (Germany) we have a former school. The preliminary draft of the daily program will be presented and updated. The specific problems of vacancy and lack of prospects of young people are introduced in small (discursive) presentations on each specific “rehearsal stage”. The team building is following. The intercultural and interdisciplinary teams will work on actual project modules which cover aspects of crafts, landscape management, community self-sufficiency, architecture and interior design. Each team consisting of approximately 4 professionals gets 1 day for their own simulation-design to present, while the remaining participants are thematically involved with the "rehearsal" of the respective team and the linguists accompanying the entire project. Local inspections of extracurricular and school facilities and daily reflection units over the acquired learning steps of the participants are also part of the methodological work. Our project „CONSTRUCTION SITES as REHEARSAL STAGES“ aims at increasing the education, motivation and commitment of youth workers (teachers and others involved in youth work) to spread the practice of non-formal methods in their work and at addressing local organizations and decision-makers to support such interdisciplinary projects. The long term goal of the project aims at creating solid partnerships, which by means of constant exchange and integration of international young people into comparable projects, achieves a broad impact. In the long run, connections that already have been established between youth – school area – international cooperations shall be developed and strengthened to form qualified, European partnerships, which are able to achieve a broad impact by means of continuous exchange and by attracting international, young people to the “construction sites as rehearsal stages”. In the future, it is young people without special support, who have difficulties or almost no chance to find a job or training place, who will be addressed in our practical and creative rehearsals.
