BASILEUS V - Balkans Academic Scheme for the Internationalisation of Learning in cooperation with EU universities

The Basileus V project will build further on the expertise built up in the previous 4 Basileus projects. The consortium counts 10 EU partners, 10 Western Balkan partners and 8 associated members, covering all countries in the region. The project focuses on “human security & EU integration”, which serves as an umbrella for the following priority thematic fields:• Social sciences• Engineering/technology• Law• Medicine• Business/Management Sciences• Languages/Philological SciencesThere are 270 mobility flows planned on all 5 levels which will be implemented, evaluated and fully recognized by the home universities as an integral part of the study programme:• Bachelor: 68• Master: 106• PhD: 54• Postdoc: 12• Staff: 30Annual consortium meetings are planned to guarantee an efficient management and monitoring system and to plan activities and finances. The project will implement different activities (workshops, training) on academic recognition and university-enterprise cooperation.The project results and experiences will be disseminated through various communication channels: project website www.basileus.ugent.be, flyers, posters, publications in journals and magazines, info sessions etc. to all (non)academic stakeholders involved: students, universities, embassies, ministries, NGO’s, enterprises, social organisations.A working group on sustainability will draft a sustainability plan in order to investigate different sources of funding to continue the cooperation. Associated member King Baudouin Foundation has funded mobility officers at different universities in the region, as well as additional promotion material and an online tool with an overview of all scholarships for Western Balkan nationals www.s4wb.eu. The consortium plans a final event with representatives from governments and the private sector to capitalise project results and to discuss further cooperation.
