Baltic Outdoor
Start date: Jun 30, 2015, End date: Oct 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project is based on South Baltic Program 2014-2020, Axis 5 and has its origin in the work done by the partners in the prolongation of the Respect Balticum-project.The partners will improve institutional capacity by increased international cooperation. Target groups are small actors - SMEs, sports clubs, NGOs, schools, tourist organizations etc operating in an outdoor environment promoting nature as an arena for sports/exercise.Most actors don’t cooperate internationally due to lack of contacts, capacity and information about opportunities. They lack professional input such as product development, marketing, budgeting, international cooperation and management. The choice of focusing on outdoor is based on the South Baltic character with green/blue opportunities. The final target of the project is to create a lasting and sustainable Baltic Outdoor Association involving the above mentioned actors. The participants will enter an international forum and receive professional input strengthening and building new competencies significantly increasing their capacity.Partners will held seminars with high level national and international speakers with expertise and hands on lectures as tools to reach the specified goals.Demonstration events will be connected with seminars presenting bench mark events establishing a common ground for exchange of ideas and case studies to be used in the process of developing new skills and institutional capacity.Specific input from users/non-users will be incorporated in the process. Users/non-users will have the possibility to join activities and exhibitions/lectures. Focus will be on the institutional capacity of the actors as well as the main impact on the institutions not the individuals. The project will in an increasing state of progression provide materials aiming at a final conference where the “Baltic Outdoor Association” is formally established as a legal body. And a new web-side introduced. Expected Results: The partners invited to work on three different projects in the prolongation of Respect Balticum concluded that a project should be moved forward aiming at the primary objective to create a formal basis for increased institutional capacity and thus to promote and support the growth and success of local South Baltic outdoor actors focusing on the blue and green environment in the South Baltic region. The second objective is to secure a higher level of professionalism by providing a continuous and formal input (provided by the educational institutions and national/international experts in the field) with focus on specific tools to be used in the outdoor business such as marketing, budgeting, management and product development in accordance with the needs and wishes of the market. The third objective is to build/increase the capacity of local actors by creating international networks in the field of education, sport, health, ecology and involving them in the international cooperation. The “Baltic Outdoor Association” will gather local, regional and international experts and give the participants an opportunity to be exposed to high level input from leaders in the market, research etc. The fourth objective is to provide training of representatives of small actors in international cooperation and organization of international events. The fifth objective is to establish a network and platform that can provide a continuous flow of information and access for possible future cooperation among participating local – and other relevant - actors. The last but not least important objective is to formally establish a sustainable association - ‘The Baltic Outdoor Association’ - that hosts an annual seminar/conference with state of the art lectures. Actors in the field can on top of that present new ideas and inventions and help partners grow and succeed in an ever-changing outdoor sector.
