FINISHED
Of the tasks assigned to the Finnish Border Guard in the Northern Karelia region, the most important tasks will be completed at the Värtsilä border guard station and the Niirala border crossing point. Functional backup power was required in order to ensure that tasks could be performed in all conditions. The following purchases would be made for the Värtsilä border guard station as part of the investment project: electricity power source, UPS equipment and its installation, planning and implementation. The goal of the project was to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply and therefore the functionality of data communication and the most significant terminal equipment between the command location and the border guard station in exceptional conditions. 50 percent of the project funding was received from the European Regional Development fund and 50 percent from the Finnish Border Guard. Achievements: The backup power for the Värtsilä border guard station was implemented by purchasing a suitable power source (143kVA) and UPS equipment (12kVA) and the necessary electrical installation work and documentation in order to adopt the system. As a result of the completed investments, the command location and border guard station are now able to function during power outages under normal readiness conditions and the power supply is now ensured under exceptional conditions.
