Start date: Aug 1, 2011,
This exchange will allow 50 young people interested in participative activity, mainly young people with fewer opportunities who have regular contact with the organisation to develop the project with us. Participants will spend 7 days together, participating and interacting with locals in the city of Luxembourg. The thematic of this exchange is the active participation of young people, his identity, his European culture and the possibilities to express it. The exchange will provide knowledge and space for young people to reflect upon the influence of the different national tradition and costumes on the individual identity building. The workshops will be:-Traditional music and dance; we will discover all musical genres, combining western and eastern music, art music and so-called popular genres in a dialogue between cultures, while touching all the major historic periods, from the Middle Ages to today.-European culinary habits; different societies have different cultures, and among these cultural differences is the element of eating habits. All people must eat to live. But what a person eats depends on both geographical conditions, and upon his culture. The cuisines of European countries are diverse by themselves although there are some common characteristics. -Intercultural dialogue; differences and similarities of European culture, bring to work on stereotypes, European symbols, special events, sports and celebrations, particularly those connected with cultural traditions, heritage, or pride and also on questions of "common culture" or "common values", issues about the foundation of European culture. Young people will discover these topics through outdoor activities, simulation games, exercises, activities for interaction with local community, discussions in small groups, concrete actions workshops, etc. These topics require not only formal knowledge, but also the reflection about values and attitudes. That is why the non-formal education needs to be used.
