ADEQUACY, QUANTITY AND QUALITY FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
Even if the technical and vocational education has been tried to be acceptable to the education standards as acceptable in practice, inadequacies in technical and vocational education are going on its existence not only as quality but also as quantity.
First of all, it has to be emphasized that present vocational quality does not answer expectations of todays’ industry. Because our teens who graduate from technical and vocational high schools do not have required qualifications, they cannot have proper employment opportunities.
Surveys, reports held by Ministry of Education, MUSİAD, TUSİAD (Turkish Business Organization) state that vocational education problems in Turkey basically result from inadequacy in relations between schools-industry-and-taskmasters. This problem is much bigger in Adıyaman. That is to say, Adıyaman takes the 74th place in Turkey’s employment.
Through this project, vocational course teachers, directors of Vocational High schools and project participants from delegates of industry are going to make labour visits to Germany and Netherland which are among the most important partners of EU. Additionally, there will be 26 participant in the Project: ten participants from Adıyaman Technical-Industrial and Vocational High School as coordinator partner; four participants Adıyaman Girl’s Technical and Vocational High School as another participant partner; four participants from Adıyaman Mimar Sinan Technical and Vocational High school; four participants from MUSİAD section of Adıyaman; and four participants from Kayseri Liberty Technical and Vocational High school as a partner.
Flowing dates and places are planned through project process:
From 19.04.2015 to 02.05.2015 in Dresten, Germany.
From 10.05.2015 to 23.05.2015 in Veqhel, the Netherlands.
While WBS TRAINING AG private training foundation is going to arrange activities in GERMANY, ROC vocational school is going to arrange the activities in the Netherlands as project partners.
Throughout the Project activities, participant schools and organizations are planned to make labour visits to two vocation institutes, five corporations which give vocational education in business and two job provider organizations during the visits to Germany and Netherland. On these visits, all the participant school and organization are expected gain knowledge about quality in vocational education at the standards of EU in the light of previously prepared subjects and questions in relation and coordination between the shareholders of vocational education, job providers’ contribution to vocational education, and the action of vocational education in business.
The participants are expected to learn by observing the education model in Germany which brings quality to vocational education in the form of dual relationship between masters and apprentices. Each of the participants is going to prepare reports in the light of this work. As a part of the project, historical and touristic places in Germany and the Netherlands will be visited to provide the participants cultural interaction. At the end of the project, the participants will gain knowledge and capability about school businesses, job provider dimensions of vocational education at the EU standards and EU citizenship awareness. Finally, the participants are expected to share their knowledge and capabilities with their institutes in the light of the reports to obtain a better quality in education in both the schools in Adıyaman and Kayseri. We further expect to increase students’ tendency to vocational education. Meanwhile, the contribution of job providers to vocational education might increase. The Project will also increase the employment of the youths both nationwide and internationally, so that it will provide a better quality in production and public service sectors.
By all these characteristics and with long term quality of industry in Adıyaman and Kayseri, the project is expected to provide an important contribution to our city, region, and country; and in a wider aspect, to the EU.
