According to a research conducted by Institute of Medicine (IOM), majority of death occurrences happen in the health sector. “Death due to the medical errors” is among the prior five causes of death in the World. In Turkey, approximately 35.000 people lose their lives due to medical errors. Two research studies focusing on the inpatients have identified the frequency of medical error occurrence as 2.9 % as in the form of adverse effect and as 3.7% during the clinical treatments. Respectively 58% and 53% of these errors are identified as preventable errors. In this context, Clinical Quality Services, is a professional medium grounded in evidence based medical practices for the provision of correct diagnosis and treatment, the prevention of the medical errors, the improvement of the care process, the enhancement of the patient and employee satisfaction and, thereby, the achievement of the best health results. In Turkey, the implementation of the Clinical Quality Services have begun due to the reasons including the increase in chronic diseases and medical errors, the control of the costs, the impact of developing world and the changes in the approaches to health and treatment. In this context, the programs of “Turkey Clinical Quality” and “Turkey Transformation in Health” aim at quality and accreditation for qualified and effective health care services. Since there are no adequate clinical quality practices in the province of Batman; our hospitals work with full capacity in terms of bed occupancy rates, the average length of hospital stay is high and correct diagnosis and treatment cannot be realized in a systematic way. According to 2015 data of the hospitals that are connected to our association, the number of inpatients taking clinical health service in diabetes, pregnancy and birth and hearth diseases, which have indicators of clinical quality, is 25.200, while the total number of inpatients is 61.000. In this context, in accordance with the support and supervision of the Department of Quality and Accreditation of the Ministry of Health, a consortium coordinated by Batman Association of Public Hospitals (APH) has decided to conduct a project in order to develop the occupational abilities and capacity of students; to enable them to acquire know-how, skills and experience at the level of European standards; to ensure them to examine the best on-site practices; to give them the opportunity to have an inter-cultural learning experience and to expand their career opportunities after this learning and training experience. In the context of this project, the coordinator institution Batman APH, which holds 6 state hospitals, established a consortium partnership with Batman Ibni-Sina, Batman Gazi and Özel Batman Basut Anatolian Vocational and Technical Schools. The project is composed of occupational mobility activities to Czech Republic and Hungary with the participation of a total of 63 participants including 45 11th and 12th level nursing students, 6 attendants, 8 occupational teachers and 4 internship coordinators. These students will be conducting internship studies on clinical quality services in these two countries. Teachers and other personnel will be trained about clinical quality of health services and experience best on-site practices.This project aims at developing new perspectives on the subject, comparison of the experience gained in this project with the practices implemented in Turkey, learning innovative clinical quality practices and their transfer to achieve the best health services outcomes. At the same time, the certificates that the participants will obtain with this program will increase their employment opportunities in the area of clinical quality services.
