The Adolf-Kolping-Schule Lohne, Germany, and the Klapka György Szakközép- és Szakiskola, Jaszbereny, Hungary, have established a close cooperation more than 20 years ago. Our current project "Internships and dual vocational education in Hungary" aims at the consolidation and professionalisation of this cooperation. Moreover it aims at a further development of the partnership, especially with regard to the implementation of dual vocational education in Hungary. Thus, 15 participants, students of the Adolf-Kolping-Schule and trainees in the dual vocational education, will join enterprises in Jaszbereny, Hungary, as interns for 14 days. During the internship they are expected to gain professional experience, e.g. with regard to new techniques, but also to increase their democratic awareness and knowledge of the European history and culture. Furthermore, two collegues from the Adolf-Kolping-Schule will spend several days in Jaszbereny and support their Hungarian collegues as experts in dual vocational education. The school principals of both schools will be involved actively in the project and have agreed on a close cooperation to support the implementation of dual vocational education in Hungary. Future projects could adapt here. By realising this project we strive for strenthening the Adolf-Kolping-Schule as a regional centre of competence by adding a European dimension.
