Auf dem Weg zur Inklusion
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school and the ‘Sonderpädagogisch regional centre of Murtal’ are located in the same building. Therefore it is obvious to us that the theme of inclusion is already happening now, for the suitable rooms, the facilities, the building and the location are already here in place. A dedicated team of teachers at the VS Judenburg-Stadt has made it their task to start this method of inclusion teaching. All the teachers at the school have been informed about the possibility of Job Shadowing, with six teachers and the headteacher already agreeing to do this in Finland, in Sweden and in Spain, to value experiences and then pass further on as multipliers. We want to read appropriate reference literature and with the teachers of the ‘Sonderpädagogisch regional centre’, we will discuss together our experiences and knowledge, we will visit schools in our country that are already successful in inclusion methods of teaching, further on we would like to make wider contacts with teachers from other European countries (eTwining), the next step we will put valuable and positive experiences into our own school development, so that we are best prepared for the future new requirements. The more forward we are on the way to begin the inclusion method, the more successful we will be in our planned endeavour. All our experiences we will pass on, not only to our teacher team but further on through seminars and courses to other colleagues within the wider region. Through positive model effects we will win over many schools and teachers for the implementation of inclusion. Our experience reports of our stay in Finland will be included into the last thesis `On the way to Inclusion´ from the school management training. Already agreements were made with schools in Finland for Job Shadowing. These agreements are included in the application. For this reason, the success of this project is better guaranteed. For our pupils we expect in this context that through increased social lessons and social activities, their social skills will be strengthened. Also the pupils will widen their viewpoint through contacts to pupils from both schools via eTwinning projects or other joint works to one special theme. Teachers can strengthen their position through certification, extend their European Pass, by their experiences during the project which will deepen their positive attitude to the inclusion method and pass onto others.
