Art and Creativity for Intercultural Dialogue
Start date: Mar 2, 2015, End date: Nov 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Art and Creativity for Intercultural Dialogue" project aimed at meeting the need in Europe of "interculturality" instead of "multiculturalism" and aimed at giving to young people the opportunity to "create" this new European culture. ACID project set as objectives: to share the different "images" of the "other" at European level, and to reflect on them; to promote the exchange of experiences at "intercultural" level between young people coming from different European countries; to promote dialogue and integration between young people from different European countries; and to promote the use of art and creativity as a tool for the development of both individual and group skills and values. 50 young people from Spain, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Portugal and Italy participated in the project; they were young Europeans who wanted to learn to "think out of the box"; active in partner organisations; interested in confronting on the main theme of the project with other young people coming from other European countries; interested in learning new tools based on art and creativity. The main activity foreseen by the project was a youth exchange, which included an Advanced Planned Visit. The methodology used during the project was based on the principles of Non-Formal Education; working methods were based on art and creativity, and included games and activities; teambuilding activities; moments of reflection and analysis; simulations; theatre and clown workshops; visits; sessions to exchange experiences and best practices; and a presentation to an external audience. The outcomes of the project are: the acquisition by youth participants of new skills based on art and creativity; new reflections about the role of culture in Europe and the integration between different European cultures in a true "interculturality"; new networking projects between European youth organisations. The project had a direct impact in young participants, in international partner organisations and in the local community where the activities took place, as well as an indirect impact in the communities of origin of the participants, through a deep multiplier effect. In a long term perspective the project will promote and disseminate the use of art and creativity as privileged working tools in educational interventions led by youth for youth.
