ART – Action: Release Time! is a youth exchange project, which will take place in the city of Covilhã, in the central region of Portugal, between 18 and 27 July, 2016, with the participation of 49 young people from 6 countries (Croatia, Spain, Greece, Italy, Portugal and Romania) aged between 14 and 18 years old. This young group is characterized by coming from very low socio-economic backgrounds, in a situation of failure / dropout that makes them very worried about unemployment. For this reason, they felt it was important to share with peers from other countries the challenges they face in their home country, regarding jobs and debate about ways and alternatives they have, facing an uncertain future and also to acquire skills that make employment easier. So, given the profile of the participants, the goals of the ART youth exchange consist mainly in:1st – Seeing creative expression as a way to allow youths to develop self-knowledge skills and capacity to express emotions.2nd – Fomenting the development of inter and intra-personal skills that enable socio-professional inclusion. 3rd – Potentiating self-esteem and confidence, allowing youths to interact with one another in a multicultural context.4th – Contributing to social change through the promotion of creativity and personal expression allowing the participants to transform their surroundings. To achieve these goals, we will work on body language, visual and musical expression with numerous activities: visit and discovery of urban art spaces in the city of Covilha, workshops of creative expression, discussion / sharing, presentation to the local community of a performative spectacle, camping / artistic retreat in close contact with nature and young people from various regions of Portugal and a lunch gathering with local media to publicize the project and the Erasmus + Program. In short, the ART project will allow the acquisition of knowledge and skills of a group of young people from particularly vulnerable socio-economic contexts in an experiential approach in which the participants will have to take responsibility, meet and divide tasks, meet challenges and work together to achieve the same objective. The promotion of entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and risk-taking to allow them to discover their own potential and move ideas into action is the challenge of this project.
