Anima, the Brussels international Festival of animation film will take place from Feb 24 to March 5, 2017 in Flagey Brussels and be decentralized in Liège, Namur, Mons, Charleroi, Gent, Leuve, Ostend, Antwerpen and Genk. It will be the 36th edition. It will pursue its basic mission, since its creation: have the general public (children families, young people; fans, students and professionals. During 10 days, Anima will propose a competition of new short et features films as well as retrospectives and tributes devoted to European cinematographic heritage. Special programs and events will complete the 270 films foreseen on the whole. Numerous pedagogical activities will be proposes behind the screenings: Futuranima, a dozen conferences aimed at students and professionals, will take pleace from Marc 1 to 4, 2017. A masterclass and workshops will also be proposed to students as well as daily interviews of the talents in front of the public during the sessions Meet the Talents. The young audience will have access to 3 daily screenings in the afternoons, to low budget screenings for school classes and in the morning for social defavorized groups during the Animatins. Children will have access for free to two workshops learning to make a film. Exhibitions, performance, concerts, signing sessions, etc. In 2017, the visual identity of the festival will be created by young Belgian artist Nicolas Fong. We will keep a link with our audience during the whole year thanks to the organisation of the Anima Saturdays, an activity for children, the programming of animation film during public events and in festivals, the publication of a DVD Best of Anima. In 2017, the festival hopes to reach 43.000 spectators.
