This project entitled "Development of conditions for sustainable growth – Tourism synergies and agriculture" refers to the education of students in the fields of Agriculture, Economics and Management and Tourism. The project will involve theoretical training from scientific staff of the host organization, but also internships and cultural visits. Trainees are expected to gain significant knowledge and experience for a modern theme of sustainable development through tourism and agriculture. As sustainable tourism development is defined the development of tourism that operates in a balanced way to the local, social, economic, cultural and environmental structure of any tourist area, forming parallel terms (services, infrastructure, and expertise) for the continuous feedback.
The program is expected to involve 40 students, 20 per stream, who for a period of two (2) weeks will be going Portugal and Spain. The flows will be implemented in the last quarter of 2014 and the first quarter of 2015 respectively, upon request of the sending institution with the host institutions (AIAM και MUOVERSI.eu). The planned duration to stay abroad is considered satisfactory to cover the educational needs of the participants to gain the necessary knowledge of training while enhancing the intercultural characteristics of the program.
The training program was designed according to the characteristics and needs of the participants in order to obtain the specialized knowledge required in relation to sustainable development through the synergy of tourism and agriculture, so that in combination with the received practical skills and attitudes required by the specialty, to become competitive and able to pursue and achieve their integration into the labor market.
In the proposed project we expect to achieve multiplier effects and benefits, both for participants and for their external actors involved. This gives added value to the proposal, contributing to:
* Developing the European dimension in vocational training and guidance,
* Disseminating of the importance of mobility and transfer of European culture in the sending country
* Certification of knowledge and recognition with the Europass mobility,
* Awareness of the importance of foreign language knowledge,
* Creating a network for the development of partnerships between training institutions and enterprises.
Participation in such a mobility plan contributes so the beneficiaries will gain valuable experience and important skills to achieve the following specific objectives:
* To enrich their knowledge of the synergy for sustainable tourism and agriculture,
* To improve the availability of local agricultural products,
* To work in an environment with different technologies and expertise,
* To practice and perfect a foreign language,
* To increase their chances of finding work in Greece or in some foreign country.
The training needs of students who are covered by the plan and which are directly related and relevant to the needs of the labor market focus to look and see how the two sectors, tourism and agriculture can come together and form a factor of sustainable development. In today's context , it is highly imperative to promote a development based on the comparative advantages characterizing Santorini in exclusivity and will allow it to differentiate with respect to such products and services of other countries.
By the end of the project, the trainees are expected to gain valuable experience and important skills, which are expected to contribute to subsequent employment careers and are identified in knowing the methods and procedures in order for tourism and agriculture to act synergistically, enhancing the comparative advantages of Santorini in the direction of sustainable development.
