This is an EVS project “All without borders” involving 3 European volunteers from Italy, Bulgaria and Russia lasting 9 months and taking place in Lorca (Murcia), Spain, hosted by Asociación Cazalla Intercultural. The main aim is to fight for social inclusion of the young immigrants and young people from Lorca who are at risk of social exclusion in this municipality, through informal training activities as well as leisure and free time, based on the principles of NFE, in order to promote fellowship, break the stereotypes and prejudice, support the mutual knowledge and education in values.
Its purpose is to create a space for encounter, dialogue, leisure and alternative free time for youngsters who are on the margins of the social life in their municipality by offering them a range of activities such as training on human rights, democracy, gender equality, as well as free time activities, offering possibilities other than the usual, trying to include the same young people who can express their needs and thus fully participate in the activities. The youth groups who are at greater risk of marginalization are those of foreign origin, noting by the big number of immigrants currently living in the municipalities of Lorca. For this reason, our project uses the tools of intercultural education, with the explicit aim of preventing the creation of ghettos and in that way promote cultural, interpersonal and group interaction between the young people and groups from diverse backgrounds. We also carry out programs to prevent gender based violence among youth, as this has become one of the most current and risky issue nowadays.
In total, our main motivation is to fight against the difficulties of immigrants with difficulties in social integration by offering a program of educational, recreational and leisure activities to enable them to meet their new surroundings and interact with the native youth.
Another strong side of the project are our youth information centers that the Hosting organization offer on a local and regional level about the Erasmus+ Program, Eurodesk and other opportunities for young people, in order to find activities, opportunities and expertise abroad.
Moreover this project is to promote and encourage local voluntary associations and the importance of youth groups that meet and create youth initiatives together. European volunteers work with local volunteers and support them to create new educational and free time initiatives for young Lorca.
Another focus of this project is to measure the impact that has this project in Lorca on the volnteers, on the hosting organization and on the local community. For this, we have developped and we develop more tools for evaluation that through the indicators will show us quantitative and qualitative changes in people and organizations involved in the project.
On the other hand we will make a special enfasis to the dissemination of the results of the project, both on the local, national and international level, in order to use furthermore these results by the other youth professionals in the youth environments within their projects with and for Youth.
